Didsbury Festival

In 2011 the Festival will be on Saturday 11th June at 11am

Didsbury Festival 2010 –  Saturday 12th June 2010 – Best Stall Award!!

Retro kitsch bunting, cakes, jams and big black campaign T-shirts to show our more serious side!  All your hard work paid off as we raised load of money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital charity and won the Didsbury Festival Best Stall Award. Jane, who organises the event says we looked wonderful (even positive reports from teenagers) in the procession and really raised awareness we were in the village. The stall sold out early with queues 3 or 4 deep for the cakes, crafts and jams.  Zoe’s Iced Tea was a hit on a hot day too.  Well done everyone.  See the pictures in the Gallery page.

Didsbury Festival 2009 – Our first Didsbury Village WI Marquee

SOS for Honey Bees

Despite the heavy rain all day, we still had a good time and sold almost all we had. The marquee looked great. A corner of it was dedicated to ‘A Hive of Information’ about the bee; Leila sold some books; the cakes & crafts looked fantastic and I qualified for The Apprentice with my Bee Finger-puppet hard selling.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated time & goods to us. Especially thank you to those of you who put  in a lot of effort to dress as bees on such a soggy day! In all we took nearly £300 and certainly had lots of enquiries about the WI in Didsbury- I hope we can fit all the visitors in the room in July!

Here’s some photos of the day.

thank you all for the beautiful flowers and card.
the lovely pauline has just hand delivered them – perfect timing cos my original flowers from 2 weeks ago are wilting.
i’m feeling better every day now that i’ve had the opp, i’ve just got to learn to be a patient patient….
in case someone out there hasn’t heard how i managed to break my upper arm, well, i was watering a hanging basket and fell off a 6 inch high stool …. how WI is that! i’m trying to think of a much more exiting lie to tell from now on – any ideas?
    love and thanks to all
